MEDIA SERVICES

Welcome to the press portal for the Oddities & Curiosities Expo

Here you’ll find everything you need to request media access, understand what qualifies, and get the information and support needed to cover The Oddities & Curiosities Expo thoughtfully and accurately.


Before reaching out or applying, please take a moment to review the qualifications below and make sure you meet the criteria for media access. We review two types of applicants: traditional media and social media creators.

If you’re part of the press

such as a journalist, editor, producer, or photographer


we may ask for links to past coverage, a confirmed assignment, or other relevant credentials to support your application.

If you’re applying as a social media content creator or influencer

we look for at least 30,000+ followers across platforms, as well as content that aligns with the Oddities & Curiosities Expo audience. A media kit and examples of your coverage style is required. 

In both cases, be sure to include any materials that show us how you plan to cover the event and who your audience is.

We’re here to assist members of the press and other media personnel by:

  • Reviewing and vetting media badge requests
  • Providing press kits and background information
  • Helping the press to get the most out of the O&C Expo
  • Helping media connect with vendors, artists, or expo staff
  • Providing post-expo follow-up
  • Building long-term relationships with the media and press



MEDIA ACCESS OVERVIEW

Before reaching out or applying, please take a moment to review the qualifications below and make sure you meet the criteria for media access. Be sure to include any requested materials that apply to your field. Traditional media and social media content creators are reviewed separately, as each has different requirements.

Media Credentials Are Reserved For:

  • Professional reporters, journalists, editors, producers, and photographers covering the Expo for a recognized outlet


  • Assigned freelancers with verifiable editorial intent and relevant past work. Freelancers must provide confirmation of assignment from an established outlet or share past coverage examples from similar events.


  • Outlets that provide significant national, local, or genre-specific exposure for a specific expo date or the Oddities & Curiosities Expo as a whole

Media Credentials Are NOT Granted To:

  • Freelancers not on assignment or without past coverage of similar events


  • Photographers attending solely for personal portfolio use


  • Employees of media outlets in non-editorial roles (sales, marketing, admin, etc.)


  • Individuals seeking free admission without a clear coverage plan or media affiliation

Please Note:

  • All applications are thoroughly vetted to ensure alignment with our event and audience


  • If you’ve covered the The Oddities & Curiosities Expo previously, include links or copies of your past coverage in your application


  • Previous event coverage does not guarantee access in the current year


  • You may be contacted for additional documentation, links, or context regarding your outlet or content plan

Social Media Influencers Access Overview

  • Social Media InfluencersMust have at least 30,000+ followers across the following platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook


  • Must include a media kit or one-sheet in your application


  • Content should align with O&C Expo's audience (think alt, spooky, macabre, art-centric, local guide)


  • Engagement quality, content relevance, and posting frequency are all considered

MEDIA FAQ

We’ll follow up within two weeks of receiving your completed request.


Access to the expo floor on your approved date(s), permission to take photos and video, and support from our media team if you need assets, follow-up info, or vendor intros.


  • Early access or line skipping
  • Guaranteed entry into sold-out or limited-capacity classes
  • Access to separately ticketed experiences
  • The ability to bring a guest or transfer your badge


Yes. Each team member must apply using a unique email.


Media badges are issued individually and cannot be used for guests or assistants.


No. Media badges are non-transferable and misuse may affect future access.


Absolutely. You’re welcome to attend as a paid guest. You can reapply for media access next time—just include a link to the content you created.
